Regular screenings can help save lives.

Many cancers that are detected early are less likely to have grown or spread to other parts of the body. Often, cancers caught early are easier to treat.

At MetroHealth, we offer routine screenings for a number of different types of cancer. You can schedule an appointment with your primary care doctor for some types of cancer screenings, or you might get cancer screenings through routine appointments with a specialist, such as an OB-GYN.

Meeting You Where You Are

We know that many people in the community we serve do not have access to routine cancer screenings. We’re dedicated to helping people in northeast Ohio be proactive about cancer.

The Minority Men’s Health Fair provides access to over 30 screenings across 3 locations each spring. The Multicultural Women's Health Fair and Empowerment Expo provides access to screenings, health talks and more.

We participant in the Breast and Cervical Cancer Project, which provides payment assistance for screening, diagnosis, and treatment for underinsured and uninsured people.

We bring screening to our community through our Mobile Mammography program, available at Discount Drug Mart, churches, workplaces, and other community venues.

BREAST (Bringing Education, Advocacy and Support Together)/Amigas is nationally recognized with a Komen Community Service Award for outstanding efforts in raising awareness of breast cancer issues and the importance of early detection, as well as for innovative outreach initiatives, particularly with underserved women.

Personalized Treatment for Cancer

Our team of medical and surgical oncologists and certified oncology nurses are committed to walking alongside you for the healthiest possible outcome after a cancer diagnosis.

At MetroHealth, you'll have access to some of the most innovative treatment options in northeast Ohio, including localized radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and minimally invasive surgery. If appropriate, we'll enroll you in groundbreaking clinical trials to ensure that you receive the most effective treatment for your individual cancer. We address health disparities by enrolling minority populations in clinical trials at more than 4 times the national average.

Most people start their treatment within 3 to 5 days of diagnosis. In some cases, you’re seen within 24 hours.

When it’s time to fight cancer, you’ll be supported by our oncology team, recognized by the American College of Surgeons for the highest possible level of training and expertise. We use state-of-the-art technology in an environment of personalized care to focus on making you the healthiest you can be. Research and Trials

Groundbreaking Research

At MetroHealth, every oncologist participates in research, meaning the advances we make in cancer care are directly connected to your bedside. We strive to learn more about the many cancers that impact people in our community.

Our oncologists participate in cancer research to learn more about how cancer cells form and how they can be treated. This research helps people with cancer access new and cutting-edge therapies that might not be available elsewhere.

At MetroHealth, we have access to over 150 clinical trials at any given moment, in partnership with national organizations and pharmaceutical companies. While all patients are considered for eligibility, we address health disparities by enrolling people from minority populations in clinical trials at more than 4 times the national average.

For more information about our studies, or to enroll in a study that might be right for you, contact our oncology team at 216-778-7328.
